Manuscript Structuring

Are you looking for a way to make your college admissions application stand out? Are you interested in getting research experience? You may benefit from completing an independent research project. One of our coaches will walk you through the entire process: selecting an intriguing topic, finding sources, integrating multiple studies, and writing a final paper. While some college admissions companies provide a similar program, their focus is primarily on appealing to admissions officers, not on developing your skills. We are dedicated to your growth while you explore an area that interests you! (They also cost up to $20,000, which is inaccessible for most people!) Through our 10-week program, you will gain knowledge, confidence, and skills that will benefit you in any university and career setting you choose.

Coaching includes:
> Weekly one-on-one meetings with your personal PhD coach
> Personalized mentorship in finding, reading, and integrating information from scientific papers
> Instruction in relevant scientific background and research methods
> Unlimited communication with personal mentor outside of weekly meetings
> Tailored resources for developing your research project
>  Optional outline and writing suggestions
> Detailed feedback on drafts and progress

Cost: $1200 for a 10 week program
(includes free consultation meeting)

Cost: $80 (1.5 hr meeting + reference materials)

Who We Are

While earning her PhD, our founder observed that capable scientists were often uncomfortable communicating their findings. Uncertainty in this area resulted in distress during meetings, anxiety before presentations, and frustration preparing grant applications. Science communication skills come with time, but the process of acquiring them can be difficult without help. North Shore Academic Services exists to facilitate science communication by editing and proofreading all types of science writing, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, grant applications, and more. These services can be done in combination with our coaching services, which include individual meetings to discuss communication strategy.

Michaela Novakovic, our founder, earned her PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University and her Certificate in Editing from ACES: Society for Editing. Her research has been published in respected journals like PNAS, Nature Communications, and Science Signaling. She has presented science research to high schoolers, music students, FASEB conference attendees, and others. A dedicated educator and mentor, she has mentored dozens of students in independent research projects. She is passionate about making science accessible to all.

Perfect! Michaela is very patient, and especially understanding... She explains terms so well & does not hesitate to make me feel safe to ask questions.
